Admissions
Year 7
This College abides by the admissions policy drawn up by Kent County Council. Parents indicate first and second choice preferences for High School education before the selection tests are taken. Once the results of these are known, all first choice preferences are then considered by the College. If the number of first preferences is less than our standard number, then all are admitted.
If the number was to exceed the standard number, then we would take into account the following factors:
Parents’ wishes
Current family association i.e. older sibling in the College at the time of entry.
Health reasons (for which a medical certificate may be needed) although physically disabled students are admitted into the College as a matter of course.
Nearness of students’ homes and ease of access to College.
POST-16
Admission into Post-16 is by interview and the compilation of a personal profile and action plan. The College has a policy which welcomes students from other educational establishments as well as those who have previously studied at CCC.
Casual Admissions
Following an enquiry from a parent/guardian admission into the College, the student’s present/past College will be contacted prior to a meeting with the parents/guardians to gain information about the prospective new entrant. At the meeting with parents/guardians will be the Deputy Principal (learning).
If the new entrant has a Statement of Special Educational Need, then it will be necessary to involve the Area Office. If the standard number for the year group in question is not exceeded, then the student will normally be admitted, although under certain circumstances, it may be necessary to refuse admission e.g. with a permanently excluded student.
Looked After Children
In the case of children who are either living with foster parents or in a children’s home, it is essential that the College is given the appropriate information in terms of who is legally responsible for the child and other specific information in line with the new procedures for “Looked after Children”.
