Learning Resource Centre

The Learning Resource Centre plays an important part in raising achievement throughout the school by fostering sound study skills, including training students to be able to conduct research and retrieve information independently using a variety of media. A full time librarian staffs the centre and every effort is made to create a welcoming environment. All students have access to a wide range of new , attractive books and magazines tailored to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum. Like all good Learning Resource Centres, we have a range of fiction, non-fiction and reference books for all ages and abilities.
Students may use the Learning Resource Centre during lessons, break times and after college. Students are encouraged to take books home, using our computerised issuing system, to enhance their studies and for their personal enjoyment. The Learning Resource Centre has a computer suite, linked to the college network, to enable students to word process their assignments and conduct research. A range of videos, audiocassettes and CD-ROMs complete the multimedia service.
The LRC also has a range of information relating to careers.
