Dance & Drama
All students study Dance and Drama at Key Stage 3. Modules studied include improvisatio
n, the Scripted Performance, Short Film Challenge, Ways into Movement and Physical Theatre.
The college boasts its own purpose built Theatre complete with lighting rig, sound system and backstage facilities, together with a dance/drama studio for rehearsals.
Dance and Drama are both offered as GCSE subjects and Performing Arts courses form par of the 6th form prospectus.
Extra-curricular activities include productions, National Dance Week, the opportunity to perform at a variety of venues in Kent and visits to theatres.
During the past 2 years, the college has been host to a variety of professional company performances and workshops giving young people a greater access to the Arts. These have included: Cardboard Citizens, Rambert Dance Company and the Norther Ballet.
Music
All students study the National Curriculum in line with Key Stage 3 and have the opportunity to play
keyboards, drum kits, recorders and steel drums in class. The subject can also be studied as a GCSE option at Key Stage 4.
In each key stage the department makes extensive use of the latest developments inĀ music technology including four-track recording and MIDI sequencing.
Extra-curricular activities include choir, wind band, junior band, jazz band and various smaller instrumental groups. The music department also takes part in college productions.
Visiting peripatetic teachers offer individual and group lessons on brass, woodwind, cello, guitar and drums at special reduced rates.
