Performing Arts
The Performing Arts Department has a strong focus at Castle Community College and offers a
wide variety of opportunities to students of all ages.
Keystage 3 students study dance, drama and music and are offered access to additional lessons, clubs, performances and arts related visits.
At Keystage 4 & 5 Vocational Qualifications are offered in dance, drama and music and students can study more than one of these disciplines.
Through these courses students are given many opportunities to perform at a variety of venues in the area.
Castle Community College boasts a fully equipped training theatre, suited to those who love to perform, direct or get involved in technical work. It has a fully functional rehearsal studio with mirrors and a music room with three additional practice rooms. All teaching staff in the Performing Arts Department are practitioners in their own right and regularly perform outside of
school.
The Arts Council of Great Britain has recently awarded Castle Community College an Artsmark Gold Award for their dedication to the Arts. This prestigious award highlights our dedication and devotion to performance work and recognises the opportunities we give our students.
So far this year students have: created & performed a variety of Citizenship plays for their peers & students from other schools, performed Cinderella both in-house and on tour, regularly taken part in performance assemblies, danced at a variety of venues in Kent, auditioned for the National Youth Theatre, been to London to see Chicago & visit the Theatre Museum, held their own X-Factor, performed in music groups in school and in the community and performed plays for friends, family & the community.
