Sports Status
Welcome
Castle Community College has been a specialist sports college since September 2005, and has since been re-designated as a result of an ‘Outstanding’ OfSTED inspection in October 2007. Castle was named 2008 Sports College of the Year.
Since designation the College has established a growing reputation not only in the district and county, but also in the Sports College network. Many changes and developments have taken place within the PE Department and throughout the College as the whole school impact takes effect.
The College is the hub school for the Dover District School Sports Partnership, which consists of nine secondary schools and forty-four primary schools; making it one of the largest partnerships in the county.
Castle has some of the best sporting facilities in East Kent. The new 3G ATP is a fantastic addition to the College’s infrastructure, and is an excellent resource not only for teaching and learning and extra curricular activities, but also for the community. A new changing room facility is currently under construction which will complement the gym, cricket facilities and grass pitches at the College.
The PE department works very closely with the Performing Arts Department and both boast excellent exam results; teaching the BTEC First and National qualifications. Both departments also offer an extensive extra curricular programme with breakfast, lunch time and after clubs along with sporting fixtures and performances.
Please feel free to contact me at the College if you would like to know more about any Sports College related issues.
